About us
What makes our space different
Embodied Truth + Power was started by a therapist who's seen how mental health is intrinsically connected to our physical health, and the need for fitness spaces that feel truly safe, accessible, and inclusive.
Our gym offers:
A beginner-friendly space where you'll never have to feel weight-room impostor syndrome
Small groups that foster real connection and accountability with neighbors that become friends
A safe space where you're invited to feel your feelings and show up as you are
A body-neutral, holistic wellness focus that isn't centered on appearance or numbers
Guidance from trauma-informed instructors here to meet you where you are each day, and respect your authority over your body

What is trauma-informed fitness?
Providing truly trauma-informed care is a deep part of our ethos, woven into how we design your space, our coaching, and your experience.
Our approach blends trauma-informed coaching with mindful movement and community, and strives to be a safe place where you can grow stronger in a way that feels empowering, supportive, and sustainable.
Whether you're healing, returning to movement, or ready for a new chapter of strength, we hope you find a sense of belonging here with us.
We prioritize choice and consent in movement
We teach options, not rules
We support pacing and recovery
We reduce shame and performance pressure
We focus on safety, clarity, and respect
We fill the space with opportunities for joy and connection that you choose to engage with

Our gym was created by a therapist to support true mind-body health
Embodied Truth + Power was created from a simple belief: healing and strength grow together. Our gym founder is Justyna Wawrzonek, DSW, LCSW, CST, a therapist with over 10 years of experience who’s seen how mental & physical health are intertwined and believes we all deserve a space place to be with our bodies and minds within community.

Discover why strength training & yoga are incredible partners that work with therapy to support resilience and mental health.
🧗🏾♂️
Strengthens mind-body connection
Strength training & yoga have been shown to support interoception, allowing us to become more aware of and connected to our physical bodies and feelings. This is especially valuable in fostering post-traumatic healing.
😌
Shown to help reduce anxiety and depression
Research shows that weight lifting can successfully reduce symptoms of depression, anxiety, and PTSD, providing participants with a sense of strength and power that they describe as transformational.
💪🏽
Makes you feel stronger, both in & out of the gym
Studies show that the gym space becomes a social support that reshapes the way that participants perceive themselves, their lives, and their world. As participants improved their physical health, they were also able to improve their mental health.
🏋️♀️
As effective as antidepressants
Lifting weights just twice a week has been shown to lead to a remission rate among participants diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder on par with antidepressants.
